Frequently Asked Questions

Why eat lactation cookies?

Lactation cookies are healthy, delicious and can support a breastfeeding mother by increasing milk supply. They work by using food ingredients called galactogogues, that increase prolactin (which stimulates milk production), plus containing carbohydrates and protein for energy.

How do the cookies work? Why do they increase milk supply?

Lactation cookies use active ingredients called galactogues, which increase breast milk production by stimulating prolactin. The active ingredients in our cookies include brewers yeast, flaxseed meal and oats.

Are lactation cookies safe for the whole family (including children)?

Yes, ingredients are natural and safe – but only mum will have an increased supply. If you or your family have specific dietary needs, please let us know.

What flavours do you offer? How many can I choose?

Cookies include your choice of any two of the following ingredients:

Chocolate, chocolate chips (milk, dark, caramel or white), peanut butter, coconut, cranberries, dates, sultanas, nuts, honey or maple syrup. If we don't have a flavour that you would like, get in touch. If you're not sure what you like, maybe consider a trial pack with multiple flavours.

What is the difference between maintenance and boost levels?

This description refers to the strength of the active ingredients that increase milk supply – called galactogogues. If you are wanting to maintain your supply – for example while bub is unable to feed for health reasons, bub is weaning but you’re unsure of when to drop feeds, or if you are going back to work and want to pump in place of feeds – choose this level. If you are wanting to increase supply – for example, if you feel you are not making enough to meet baby’s demands (eg. When establishing supply, baby is tube fed and you want to increase supply to pump, baby is sick and demanding more milk or regresses on weaning), choose this level.

How are the cookies priced?

Maintenance               6 / $12.00               12 / $20.00

Boost                            6 / $15.00                12 / $25.00

Dietary adjustment

or third flavour          6 / +$3.00                12 / + $5.00

 A few examples: 12 x boost (choc chip/peanut butter) = $25.00

                               12 x boost (choc chip/peanut butter) DF = $30

Can I get a mixed dozen? Can I choose two different flavour combinations of six for the same price of a dozen.

Yes you can! For example, if you'd like 6 chocolate with white chocolate chips and 6 dark chocolate chips with cranberries - this would be $20 for maintenance or $25 for boost.

Why do boost cookies cost more than maintenance?

Boost cookies contain more of the active ingredients, therefore cost more to make.

Why do dietary adjustments cost more?

The ingredients to cater to most dietary adjustments are more expensive, or may have to be ordered additionally.
